For homebuyers, smart home systems are in demand; in fact, over 70% of homebuyers look for smart home automation features while house-hunting.
If you’re lucky enough to purchase a house that already has Vivint smart home technology installed—congratulations! You have the best home security system on the market ready and waiting to protect your home and family.
In order to start using your new system, here are a few things you’ll need to do to ensure the system is up and running in your name.

New house, new system
If there is an existing Vivint system in your new home, it will likely include some of the most common Vivint equipment and smart home security devices, including:
- Smart Hub control panel, which is the Vivint panel near the entryway of your home (usually by the front door or entry from an attached garage door)
- Motion sensors inside the home
- Door and window sensors (and possibly glass break sensors) to detect unauthorized entry via doors and windows
- Safety alarms, including smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors
Vivint systems are designed to be paired with Vivint services that include 24/7 professional monitoring, which means your home will be protected around the clock. In the event you are away from home and an alarm goes off or there is an emergency in your home, the monitoring center will ensure emergency responders are sent to your home.
How to put your Vivint system in your name
