I think this is an excellent idea that this is connected to the system here because I had one and it was a separate you know you have to talk to those people separately so again the monitoring system is connected to somebody that can call right away for help if I need help if I fall break a hip or anything so this was a good idea to include it - Rainy. WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS HAVE TO SAY

Real Vivint home security
system reviews

Jacque M

I recently purchased a Vivint system for my elderly mother who has Alzheimer's. I love the system! I've never owned a security system before. Both the salesman and the installation tech were wonderful in taking time to explain everything. The peace of mind in being able to monitor my mother in her home is invaluable, and it will allow her to remain independent at home longer. I would highly recommend Vivint!

John

We have been very pleased with our equipment and the service we have received. In addition to the outside cameras to show us the yard, driveway, deliveries, my wife has a "panic button" she wears around her neck in case of a fall or medical emergency. She has accidentally set it off a few times while getting used to it. We get a call from Vivint checking on her before we can get across the room to turn the alarm off!! Excellent!

Greta B.

Vivint is absolutely the most amazing technology on the market when it comes to both cameras and smarthome security features. The fact that my mother (who is elderly and not tech savvy by any means) can use the smarthub with ease and speak through both entry points without having to come to either door at her age is incredible.

Frequently asked senior alert system questions

What should I look for in a senior alert system?

What to look for in a senior alert system depends on your personal needs and wants. Generally, seniors who desire to age in place in their homes should have:

  • A pendant they can wear that allows them to press a button for assistance
  • An emergency monitoring center that offers help and contacts first responders
  • A quick, easy way to contact loved ones in an emergency
  • Additional monitoring assistance, like help with a potential home intruder or fire

As you consider your personal preferences, look for a senior alert system that offers a wearable pendant with a call button and 24/7 monitoring services—specifically a team that will contact your designated loved ones in a medical emergency and assist with non-medical home issues.

Keep in mind that in most cases smartphone technology can’t offer the complete support you need when living alone since you don’t wear your smartphone and it’s not always accessible. For the majority of seniors, a senior alert system is the way to go.

Here at Vivint, we’re committed to helping seniors continue to live safe, independent lives in their homes and understand that many seniors may want extra time to become comfortable with their smart home and security products – such as our Senior Alert System. With this in mind, we offer an industry-unmatched 60-day cancellation period.

Learn more about senior alert systems.

How much is a senior alert system?

Senior alert systems generally start at around $19.95 per month with costs increasing contingent upon what services and devices you choose to include in your system. In some cases, a senior alert system may be tax deductible. Speak to your accountant to find out if a tax deduction applies to you.

Read more about what technologies to potentially include in your senior alert system.

Are senior alert systems covered by insurance or Medicare?

While original Medicare does not cover the cost of a senior alert system, select Medicare Advantage plans do. Speak to a Medicare representative regarding your plan to find what, if any, benefits you have regarding a senior alert system. The same goes for insurance—talk to your provider to learn what, if anything, your policy covers in terms of a senior alert system.

How does the emergency pendant work?

The Vivint Emergency Pendant is a small alert device you can wear as a necklace, as a bracelet, on your belt, or simply keep close by. If there's ever an emergency or you need assistance, a press of the button will connect you to a member of the Vivint 24-hour monitoring team who will seek assistance from medical first responders and contact your designated family members.

Who should wear an emergency pendant?

If you’re living alone without anyone to assist in case of emergency, wearing an emergency pendant is a smart idea. More specifically, emergency pendants are helpful for seniors:

  • Who’ve experienced a fall or other medical event, such as a stroke
  • Who live alone
  • Who are prone to falls
  • Taking medication that causes side effects that may require medical attention

If there’s any chance you may experience a medical emergency alone or simply want the peace of mind that comes with knowing you have 24/7 assistance, an emergency pendant and senior alert system make sense.

Here's more information about how technology can help seniors.

Why do all seniors need a senior alert system?

Installing a senior alert system is the easiest and safest way for seniors to age in place and maintain independence and quality of life. A senior alert system provides quick access to medical help in an emergency with a monitoring in place to conveniently contact family and friends for you.
