Vivint Solar™, today announced that it has joined the Solar Energy Industry Association (SEIA), a national nonprofit trade group representing all sectors of the U.S. solar energy industry, as a member company on the board of directors.

SEIA works with its member companies to educate the public on the benefits of solar energy. As an SEIA member, Vivint Solar will play a significant role in advocating for solar energy by helping to shape federal policy and will strengthen the industry by collaborating on ways to remove market barriers at the state level. Today, the U.S. solar energy industry employs more than 100,000 Americans at more than 5,600 companies in all 50 states.

“We are pleased to join SEIA and to contribute our unique voice to the important conversation of making solar energy more accessible and accepted,” said Brendon Merkley, COO of Vivint Solar. “We welcome the chance to work with other organizations in the industry who share a common goal of expanding the solar market while decreasing solar costs. Together, we hope to create an environment that is more solar-friendly which will ultimately benefit everyone.”

“We are honored that Vivint joined SEIA’s board,” said Rhone Resch, SEIA president and CEO. “By stepping up its commitment in this vital capacity, Vivint is demonstrating its leadership and support for the continued expansion of the entire U.S. solar industry.”

Vivint Solar first began offering its simple and affordable solar solutions to residents in New Jersey, and has since expanded into markets in California, Hawaii and Massachusetts. In addition to providing its customers award-winning service, Vivint Solar also enables consumers to enjoy the benefits of solar with little to no up-front costs through a power purchase agreement (PPA).
