diy play teepees
With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, I thought it would be fun to make some play teepees for my son to play with to get into the Thanksgiving spirit. These teepees are so easy to make and you can customize them in any colors and patterns you want! They are really fun for the kids to help decorate too. Even though the traditional colors for teepees aren’t black and white, that’s what we wanted to do, so we did it and we love them! If you have a few minutes, make these with your little ones, they are sure to have a blast playing with them.
Here is what you’ll need:
- Foam sheets – any color you want
- Hot glue
- Paint pens
Step 1: Decorate the outside of your teepees with the paint pens. I would recommend doing this before you make them into teepees, it’s a little easier. Like drawing on a piece of paper instead of trying to work around an odd shape.
Step 2: Fold the foam sheet into a teepee shape and hot glue it in place.
Step 3: Grab your scissors and trim the teepee until it looks more like a teepee. This can be a little tricky! Just keep in mind it doesn’t have to be perfect, but so long as it sits on the table, it should work out fine.
Step 4: Collect some twigs and break or cut them to size. Then stick a few inside your teepee. If the twigs don’t stay where you would like them, you can tie them together or even use the hot glue!
That’s it! Enjoy your new play teepees as much as I am sure your kids will!
