What does Vivint do with your personal information?

Why? Financial companies choose how they share your personal information. Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing. Federal law also requires us to tell you how we collect, share, and protect your personal information. Please read this notice carefully to understand what we do.

What? The types of personal information we collect and share depend on the product or service you have with us. This information can include:

  • Social Security number
  • Account balances
  • Credit History
  • Income
  • Insurance claim history
  • and credit-based insurance scores

How? All financial companies need to share customers’ personal information to run their everyday business. In the section below, we list the reasons financial companies can share their customer's personal information; the reasons Vivint chooses to share; and whether you can limit this sharing.

Who we are

Who is providing this notice?

Vivint Smart Home, Inc. and its affiliates that are financial services companies, including: Vivint Warranty and Home Insurance, LLC; Vivint Insurance Services, LLC; VI Administrative Services, LLC; Vivint VI Holdings, Inc.; and Vivint Solar Licensing, LLC.

 

What we do

How does Vivint protect my personal information?

To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.

How does Vivint collect my personal information?

We collect your personal information, for example, when you

  • Apply for financing
  • Apply for insurance
  • Give us your contact information
  • Open an account
  • Pay your bills

We also collect your personal information from others, such as credit bureaus, affiliates, or other companies.

Why can’t I limit all sharing?

Federal law gives you the right to limit only

  • sharing for affiliates’ everyday business purposes - information about your creditworthiness
  • affiliates from using your information to market to you
  • sharing for non-affiliates to market to you

State laws and individual companies may give you additional rights to limit sharing.

What happens when I limit sharing for an account I hold jointly with someone else?

Your choices will apply to everyone on your account.

 

Definitions

Affiliates: Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and non-financial companies.

  • Our affiliates include companies with the Vivint, APX, and Smart Home names; financial services companies such as Vivint Solar Licensing, LLC and Vivint Warranty and Home Insurance, LLC; nonfinancial companies, such as Vivint Amigo, Inc.; and others, including but not limited to Vivint Insurance Services, LLC; VI Administrative Services, LLC; and Vivint VI Holdings, Inc.

Nonaffiliates: Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.

  • Nonaffiliates we share with can include fintech companies (such as payment processors), direct marketing companies, third-party financing partners, technology vendors, and credit reporting agencies.

Joint marketing: A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you.

  • We jointly market nonaffiliated financial companies, such as insurance companies.

 

Other important information

For California residents: We will not share information we collect about you with nonaffiliated third parties, except as permitted by law, including, for example, with your consent or to service your account.

For Vermont residents: We will not share information we collect about you with nonaffiliated third parties, except as permitted by law, including, for example, with your consent or to service your account. We will not share information about your creditworthiness with our affiliates, other than as permitted by Vermont law, unless you authorize us to make those disclosures.

For Nevada residents: Notice provided pursuant to state law. For insurance customers in AZ, CT, GA, IL, ME, MA, MT, NV, NJ, NM, NC, ND, OH, OR, and VA only: The term “Information” means information we collect during an insurance transaction. We will not use your medical information for marketing purposes without your consent. We may share your Information with nonaffiliates without your prior authorization as permitted or required by law. We may share your Information with insurance regulatory authorities, law enforcement, and consumer reporting agencies. Information we obtain from a report prepared by an insurance-support organization may be retained by that insurance-support organization and disclosed to others.
