But in dry areas or on roofs where panel tilt is minimal, dust, leaves, and other substances like bird droppings can accumulate over time and adversely affect the amount of electricity your panels generate. To clean them do the following:
Make sure your system is shut down before you clean, and it’s safer to clean your panels on the ground if possible. You just need a soft, high-quality brush and a squeegee with a with a plastic blade on one side and cloth-covered sponge on the other. A tool with an extension is preferable. Clean your panels on an overcast day in the morning or evening. Use clean water and lightly scrub with a course cloth or plastic scourer.
