More than 500 Vivint™ employees and their family members came together last weekend to pack more than 106,000 meals that will feed children in 70 countries throughout the world. Vivint, one of the nation’s largest home automation companies, partnered with Feed My Starving Children in this massive, two-day effort, which is part of the company’s Vivint Gives Back community service initiative.
Feed My Starving Children (www.fmsc.org) is a faith-based, non-profit organization that strives to eliminate starvation and restore hope to children throughout the world.
Vivint employees and their families gathered on Friday, Aug. 12 and Saturday, Aug. 13 in Vivint’s on-site gymnasium to pack the meals, which will be shipped to orphanages, schools and community feeding programs in countries throughout the world. The meals were developed by scientists and nutrition experts to provide nourishment that is easy and safe to transport, simple to make with only boiling water and culturally acceptable worldwide.
“We believe that every child should be fed in body and spirit, and we need volunteers to help us make that happen,” said Mandi Cherico, spokesperson for Feed My Starving Children. “By partnering with organizations like Vivint that can bring many hands to this important and massive effort, we can accomplish our mission and enrich the lives of the volunteers as well.”
“A good meal is something most of us take for granted,” said Josh Houser, president of the Vivint Family Foundation. “Working with Feed My Starving Children allows our employees and their families to do something together that is so basic, and yet so incredibly meaningful. We are honored to partner with this great organization.”
