the end of the world as we know it
I’ve recently become hooked on AMC’s The Walking Dead.
Maybe it was watching almost 20 hours in a row of excellent, thought-provoking television about the end of the world as we know it . . .
Maybe it’s because I rarely have more than eggs, olives, and a few stray vegetables in my refrigerator . . .
Maybe it’s because I live in Utah, where we have an ingrained culture of preparedness and 80% of the population resides on top of the rather large Wasatch Fault line . . .
But I felt utterly and completely unprepared for any sort of natural (or not so natural) disaster.
There was only one thing to do: shop.
But first I needed a list. Luckily, I love making lists almost as much as I love shopping. So I set about making the ultimate 72-hour-kit shopping list. I scoured dozens of websites from the “Keep Calm and Carry On” types to the “I bought a secret underground bunker” types to pull together a list that should more than cover your needs for three days. Our fantastic creative team turned the lists into printable downloads that we wanted to share with you. There are lists for adults, children, infants, and pets, as well as critical household items and must-haves for your car.
Print out the pieces that apply to you and start anywhere. Even if you just have water and a plan, you are way ahead of the game. At least that’s what I learned on TV.
