National Night Out is an event held every first Tuesday of August where communities all over the country help to increase awareness about their police programs. Town watch, drug prevention, neighborhood watch, and other anti-crime efforts are some of the topics that are raised for National Night Out.

There are plenty of ways to get involved in your community’s National Night Out event. This night out against crime can be as simple as a backyard cookout to a full-blown festival. Contact your local police department to see if they are holding the event. If you would like to coordinate an event in your area, you can always check out the coordinator tool kit with all of the information you’d need to put on a successful National Night Out event! This kit includes printable invites, electronic invites, event posters, volunteer sign-up sheets, and kids activity sheets.

You can go to the National Night Out map to see which cities in your area are registered to hold a National Night Out event. Get involved in your community and make a difference! Go down to your local event and get informed on how you can help prevent crime.
