Now that’s fall is here and the temperatures are dropping it’s time to make some seasonal changes to your home. The onset of cooler weather means you’ll be using your air conditioning less and start using your heat a little bit more. Without intentionally monitoring your thermostat, the constant changes in temperatures can cause your energy use to spike, even in the cooler months.

To avoid this, update your home to a smart thermostat and create heating and cooling schedules that are appropriate to your preferences and the season. It’s a set it and forget it way to conserve energy in your home.

To create your own schedules on a Vivint thermostat:

  1. Log in to vivintsky.com
  2. Go to the gear icon in the top right and select ‘Devices’
  3. Select your thermostat from the devices
  4. To the right of ‘Weekday schedule’ or ‘Weekend schedule’ click Edit
  5. Use the up and down arrows to make your desired changes for the temperatures and times
  6. Click ‘Save’

And if you’re leaving town for a couple days, you can set your thermostat to away mode, which automatically adjusts the temperature by 10 degrees when your arm your system to away.

  1. Log in to vivintsky.com
  2. Go to the gear icon in the top right and select ‘Devices’
  3. Select your thermostat from the devices
  4. To the right of ‘Security state’ click ‘Edit away’
  5. Toggle the status on or off
  6. Use the arrows to set your heat and cool temperatures
  7. Click ‘Save’
