relieve stress with organization
When I’m feeling stressed, looking at a mess never helps. If my home is in disarray, my mind feels “cluttered” as well. Funny how that works, isn’t it?
One of my favorite ways to relieve stress is organization. Whether I tackle a closet, cabinet, or shelf, I always feel better after accomplishing something and creating more order in our home. When we live in an age of accumulation, it’s easy for all of the “stuff” to weigh us down. By creating a clean and organized environment, we’re more likely to feel calm and happy. I’ve been working hard to clean out and only hold on to items of use or value, and it’s amazing how organization can create a much more peaceful and productive environment.
Reducing clutter lowers stress and in the end it saves time (no more searching for that lost item!), allowing for order and simplicity. The New Year is the perfect time to start tackling those areas of chaos in your home! My goal is to work towards having a few empty (yes, empty!) shelves. Time to break out the label maker and get motivated! Next time you’re feeling stressed, try focusing on organization, even if for just a short amount of time, I bet you’ll feel less stressed and happier as a result!
